To Coach or Not to Coach? A National Study of Satisfaction and Dismissals among High School Coaches
This session will describe the findings of a national survey of high school coaches (N = 7,562) and athletic directors (N = 3,693). These surveys examined the demographics of the coaching profession, life satisfaction, and job satisfaction among coaches, and reasons for coach dismissals. Factors relating to job satisfaction will be discussed in addition to common reasons for dismissals in the coaching profession. Audience input concerning factors leading to satisfaction and success in coaching will be solicited.
