Friend or Foe? Get Parents to Support Quality Physical Education! |
Are parents properly informed about quality physical education? A 500-parent survey found a mixed message. For example, over 90% of parents express support for physical education, yet they believe athletics can be a valid substitute. In this session we will present parents' opinions on issues surrounding developmentally appropriate practices such as substitutions, assessment, role modeling, physical activity homework, obesity prevention, and more. Learn how to use this information to design advocacy materials in order to gain parents' support. Walk away with resources to help create newsletters, websites, and multimedia presentations. |
