Identifying and Assessing Health Teacher Candidate Dispositions – Presenting a Set of Rubrics |
The purpose of the project was to create a set of rubrics to assess teacher candidate dispositions. According to NCATE standards, candidates preparing to work in schools as teachers must demonstrate content knowledge, pedagogy, professional knowledge and skills, reflection, and dispositions. By merging student generated behavioral objectives for beginning to expert levels of teacher candidate dispositions in five dimensions, with criteria created by faculty, a set of assessment rubrics were formulated. These rubrics are a useful resource for teacher preparation programs in New York State and could be used as evidence of the educational units’ commitment to teacher candidate learning. |
