Teaching Energy Balance Utilizing Pedometers in a University Fitness Course
Understanding caloric intake and caloric expenditure is an important concept for all students to comprehend in the area of weight management. The use of dietary analysis and exercise expenditure are two important components of this understanding. Diet analysis programs exist that help students understand the amount of calories they take in. In conjunction, students that use pedometers can gain a good understanding of caloric expenditure based on various functions such as exercise time, calories expended, and step totals. This presentation will show how students can incorporate various diet analyses programs with a pedometer based stepping program.
