Adapted Aquatics Instructor Credential - Day 1 |
This 22 hour course is for currently certified Red Cross water safety and/or YMCA swimming instructors on how to conduct adapted aquatics program for people with disabilities. Prerequisites include:
(1) Current Red Cross or YMCA swimming instructor certification.
(2) Current first aid and CPR (Infant/child, adult, AED)
Candidates must bring swimsuit, towel, textbook, Adapted Aquatics Programming by Lepore, Gayle, and Stevens (1998) Human Kinetics Publisher and completed study guide, plus a videotape/DVD of them teaching swimming skills to a small group of people with disabilities(2-5)in the aquatic setting. Pre-registration required. |
