Fitness Education in Action
Secondary students transitioning to adulthood need self-assessment and self-management skills that will enable them to be active now and for a lifetime. The goal of this session is to educate participants about the Fitness for Life curriculum that is designed to prepare students for a lifetime of physical activity (Corbin & Lindsey, 2004). In addition to sharing the principles of the curriculum, the presenters will provide secondary physical educators with creative suggestions for implementation. Because the Fitness for Life curriculum has both classroom lessons and activity lessons, participants will have the opportunity to experience an interactive session involving technology, physical activities, and fitness self-assessments.
