Leaders for the Future—How Different Must They Be? |
Current and aspiring leaders in education can learn much from the success of individuals in business who are described in a wealth of books on leadership. Tomorrow’s leaders must be visionary, base their work on shared values, have the ability to nurture the growth and development of others, and share decision making. Successful leaders must commit to the development of the whole person—mental (through lifelong learning), physical (through living energetically), emotional (through relationships), and spiritual (through meaning and leaving a legacy). They especially must realize the importance of emotional intelligence that includes self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationships management. |
