Successful Coordinated School Health Programs: A Maine Perspective |
The Maine Department of Education and the Bureau of Health combined efforts to focus on physical activity, nutrition, and anti-tobacco programs in attempts to combat obesity, inactivity, and tobacco addiction throughout the state. In a collaborative effort, they designed and funded a 5-year program that combines a school and community approach to address our public health concerns. This model has funded positions for 54 school health coordinators who have worked to implement programs in school districts throughout the state. Discussion on the process of developing and implementing a successful coordinated school health program. |
