Fun, Fitness, and Full Activity with Basketball Skill/Lead-up Games |
This program introduces skill and lead-up games for basketball that produce high activity levels favoring improved physical fitness/health; allow high participation rates, keeping students active a large proportion of class time; are effective learning vehicles for skills/strategies of the sport; provide opportunities for developing appropriate social values and spirit of cooperation/teamwork; and are enjoyable experiences promoting desires of children to participate. Attendees will participate in games (e.g., “steal the bacon”) modified specifically for learning and practicing basketball skills, such as ball-handling, passing, dribbling, defensive skills, and shooting; raising activity levels; and increasing time of participation for all children. |
