The "Ultimate" 30-Minute Workout: Fact or Fiction? |
Hutchins designed the SuperSlow® method of strength training, and has been quoted as saying people who espouse explosive weight training are "a lower form of life than the aerobics crowd." Hahn has developed SlowBurn® as an alternative to SuperSlow®. They, along with Westcott, have suggested that repetitions performed more slowly provide more gains in strength as compared to "traditional" repetition durations of 2-4". This study examined 272 college-age students engaging in a 9-week strength-training program utilizing three groups: (1) regular speed reps; (2) slow; and (3) very slow reps. History, philosophy, research, and some applications will be covered. |
