Are Female Athletic Coaches in Georgia High Schools Better Qualified Than Male Coaches?
Part I of this presentation will utilize findings of an extensive 2003-2004 study that included 1,000 coaches in 250 randomly selected Georgia high schools. The study focused on several coaching environmental areas, including the coaches' current levels of educational attainment, experiences, job qualifications, hiring practices, evaluations, and future interests. Part II of this presentation will focus on comparing female and male coaches in regard to the aforementioned areas, as well as additional areas that indicate gender differences. This session will be interactive and is intended to place athletic directors, coaches, and coaching educators in a position of enhancing high school coaching.
