| Good Practices of an APE Practicum | ||

Waugh1, Lisa Silliman-French2 and Sharon Tiffany Bowers1, (1)Denton, TX, (2)Denton Independent School District, Denton, TX In this session the undergraduate APE Practicum class at Texas Woman’s University will be discussed. Topics to be addressed will be as follows: work with a school district to obtain children with disabilities, transportation, equipment, use of technology, and programming. Undergraduates are exposed to motor skills and aquatics assessments. IEPs and lesson plans are developed by the undergraduates for their child with a disability. Video evaluations of the undergraduate students teaching are evaluated by a group of their peers and themselves. Presenters will also discuss the use of e-mail dialogue to enhance communication and professional skills between undergraduate students and their student's special education teacher. | ||
