| Reaching and Teaching – Enhancing the Effectiveness of Peer Health Education | ||

This session will present ways to enhance students’ health education retention/involvement. Service learning, peer education, and the positive influence of student insights will be emphasized. Collaborative efforts using community resources, hospitals, nursing homes, universities, and students’ creativity/initiative will be presented. Prevention of adolescent risk behaviors, peer tutoring, group facilitation, organization of health fairs, interaction with elders, and environmental actions will be discussed. Service learning credits and awards to high school/university students will be explained. Students reaching and teaching – the community and their peers –increases the application and retention of health knowledge and behaviors!. | ||
