The exploration and discussion of gender, sexual orientation and biological sex is accomplished through a classroom activity appropriate for 10th graders. The activity requires small groups to categorize 15 different terms into biological sex, gender and sexual orientation. Students learn the distinct differences and the confounding varialbles as the experiences of gender, sexual orientation and biological sex can be clear, yet convoluted. The exercise is adapted from a workshop from Gay Lesbian Straight Educators (GLSEN) conference in 2000. In addition, the PRIDE panel, a group of GLTBQ teens will be part of a panel to tell their stories and answer questions.
