Kailo: A non-traditional approach to worksite health promotion
The Kailo concept, developed at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa, provides a case example of one of the first worksite wellness efforts in the country to fully embrace a holistic approach to employee wellness. This presentation will explain how Kailo developers customized their health promotion program to meet the needs of their worksite population and how they have managed to avoid the pitfalls that plague so many other programs. Topics include: (1) the primary and secondary data used to create Kailo; (2) the theoretical basis for Kailo’s approach; (3) program features, budget, and staffing; (4) marketing samples; (5) outcomes; (6) suggestions for replication.
