Organizing and Delivering International Travel/Study Courses and Tours
The focus of this presentation is to identify key safety, risk management and legal issues related to international study tours. Issues covered include acknowledgement of risk; responsibilities; student self-assessments; medical and student insurance; strategies for safe travel; dealing with students with disabilities; University policies concerning student conduct; and dealing with the FERPA/Buckley amendment. Also addressed are specific organizational and logistic tasks for leading student tours in England, Scotland, and China, including: cultural preparedness, visa acquisition, selection of sites to visit, budget development, and in-country travel.
