Community Based Advocacy and Collaboration
During this session community based advocacy and collaboration models will be presented. The first presentation will discuss the American Cancer Society's legislative advocacy model which includes four levels: Grassroots Networkers; Community Ambassadors; Grasstops; and Legislative Liaisons. This model can be applied to a wide range of health concerns that engage community health organizations in the legislative advocacy process. The second presentation will discuss the state of Illinois statewide Asthma Partnerships including five working groups addressing different aspects of asthma, four established asthma consortia and eight development collaborations. Each of these components is an important component in the battle against asthma.
