Tools and Data Sources for Health Planning
During this session, speakers will discuss The Illinois Plan for Local Assessment of Need (IPLAN) process in planning health education programs. The first presentation will report success and pitfalls of three cycles of citizen involvement in health planning by one suburban Chicago health department with a rapidly changing ethnic composition. Effectiveness of the interactive tool, MAPP (Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnership), will be discussed. The second presentation will discuss two data sources available as part of IPLAN to document need for services, target limited resources, evaluate previous health promotion efforts, and guide health policy.
