Anatomy and the Dancer: Know Your Body and Extend Your Range
Stimulate student interest in how the body works to improve movement potential. Activities include pretest, problem solving, creating, and collaborating. Anatomy related to the 7th - 8th grade National Science Content Standards is included. This session is excellent for educators addressing health, the physics of movement, and artistic expression. Move, gather lesson plans, and create your own applications. Taught by Noël Grady-Smith, USA TODAY All American Teacher Team Member and 2001 NDA Dance Teacher of the Year. The preliminary lesson plan was in "Spotlight" and the Annenburg Foundation PBS Feature, "Arts in the Middle: a Guide to Interdisciplinary Arts Instruction."
