Play Behavior Framework: A Developmental Perspective
Presentation constructs a rationale for the concept of play as a developmental perspective. Developmental appropriateness is a pre-requisite consideration which must occur prior to the application of design in a children’s environment used for play. The play behavior framework is constructed as a dynamical system that supports predictable play behaviors in all children. Play environment groupings are focused on supporting predictable play behaviors. The groupings (PEGs) depend upon the appropriate selection of equipment used in the design to meet the developmental needs of children.
