| Opening Doors, Minds, and Hearts: Children of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgendered Parents: Panel Discussion with Chicago Educators and Parents |
| Approximately 6 to 10 million lesbian and gay parents have between 6 and 14 million children. All educators need to be able to legitimize the lives of all children, and work together with parents to affirm non-traditional family structures. This session will undertake issues that have arisen in working with children of non-traditional families, as well as identify specific strategies utilized by both educators and parents in addressing these issues. Presenters will moderate a panel consisting of both classroom and physical educators from the Chicago area, and parents from the local Family Pride Coalition group. |
