Teaching Adventure Skills in the Gym
A one-day workshop designed to teach participants to perform and teach basic adventure skills with an emphasis on safety. This includes: * Adventure without ropes activities. * Climbing skills on gym ropes with Prusik slings. * Belaying techniques and their application. * Climbing wall skills. * Traversing skills. * Rope swinging activities. * Skills on innovative equipment. An opportunity to examine a variety of adventure equipment. Curriculum materials will be distributed. Certificate of completion and CEUs offered. Fee includes curriculum materials, transportation, and lunch. Pre-registration required. Host institution, Northeastern Illinois University. Sponsored by Shield.
