Chicago’s Legacy to the Disciplines of Physical Education & Recreation
Chicago, known as a city in a garden and featured as the City of the Century (19th) in a recent PBS special, has played a pivotal role in the development of parks, open spaces, community centers, as well as physical education curriculum in the latter half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. This session will examine this rich legacy as well as identify how this legacy challenges our disciplines into the 21st century.
