Training Paraprofessionals to Support Children with Disabilities in Physical Education
Paraprofessionals are necessary in assisting with behavior, socialization, physical support and 1:1 instruction. Paraprofessionals are crucial in assisting the teacher when there is a large class with students with disabilities included, yet many do not actively participate. Most of these paraprofessionals do not know what to do to assist their students in physical education. Most physical education teachers are not taught how to train the paraprofessionals. The No Child Left Behind Act promotes further education for paraprofessionals, and it is imperative that they now be trained for physical education. This 4-hour workshop will teach physical educators how to train paraprofessionals.
