Using Props with Pilates
Experience Pilates-based matwork exercises, both standing and lying, with improved: breathing, spine articulation, visual imaging, pelvis and shoulder stabilization, joint fluidity, and abdominal strength. Learn principles of coordination, strength, stability, flexibility, and alignment while incorporating the theraband, overball, power circle, and other props. These props add to the resistance and flexibility of each exercise, enabling the participant to work on toning the core and limbs. Pilates is a well-known exercise program that dancers have integrated into their daily schedule for many years. This session will address ways to adapt exercises to make them more challenging for beginning to advanced movers.
