Obesity Prevention: Issues and Strategies
This session will provide a national and state-wide overview of the impact of the obesity epidemic and focus on successful strategies developed to prevent future generations from developing obesity related health concerns. Attendees will learn about obesity prevention from speakers representing the Illinois State Department of Public Health, the Consortium to Lower Obesity in Chicago Children, the Physical Education Obesity Prevention and Lifestyle Enhancement program, and a high school physical education teacher, who will discuss obesity issues and share insights into strategies being implemented to prevent obesity. Ideas that can be introduced by teachers into their schools will be presented.
