Mind and Body Exercises for Healthy and Frail Elderly

DescriptionThis workshop focuses on mind and body exercises for frail and well elderly. The workshop is in three-parts. Part I provides an introduction to the principles of mind/body exercise and provide the research findings supporting each mind/body exercise method in regards to functional ability improvements in the older adult. Part II will have participants’ experience how yoga can fit into a wellness lifestyle. Part III provides an overview of the very old populations, as well as reviews the results of two ongoing studies examining the relationships among exercise, grip strength, and functional ability of assisted living residents.
