2004 NDA Heritage Luncheon Honoring Donald McKayle
Join NDA in celebrating our Heritage Honoree, Donald McKayle. Named America's Irreplaceable Dance Treasure, McKayle's masterworks like "Rainbow Round My Shoulder" express universal themes that are internationally performed. His choreography is showcased in the Tony-honored "Raisin" and the Emmy-winning "Free to Be You and Me." Capezio, NAACP and others recognize him for developing positive images. The dance educator notes, "My real educational credentials reside in my treasured students," including Eliot Feld, Lar Lubovitch, Arthur Mitchell, and Alvin Ailey. McKayle, whose legacy is documented in his autobiography and a PBS documentary, is Professor of Dance at the University of California, Irvine.
