Antiquity and Lore: Cemeteries, Churches and Chapels
The cemeteries and churches of New Orleans have long fascinated locals and visitors alike. The unique burial system, with above ground tombs, shows off the skilled workmanship of a dying breed. Discover the famous cemetery architecture of Greek temples, wall vaults, intricate scrolls, ornate filigree, statues and urns. Tombs, built close together, row after row, give the appearance of a “City of the Dead.” This tour also includes visits to two historical landmark churches, a convent and the history of the Red Light District. Tour will meet in the registration area. Bus transportation provided.
