Research in Adapted Physical Activity
This is a four-part workshop. Part I offers an overview of very old populations as well as review the results of two ongoing studies examining the relationships among exercise, grip strength, and functional ability of assisted living residents in middle Tennessee and east Texas. Part II focuses on applications of best practices in research ethics to inquiry in adapted physical activity and protection of vulnerable participants in research. Part III will discuss the barriers to physical activity participation for people with disabilities, with particular reference to the influence of significant others. Part IV addresses leadership training specific to service delivery in Adapted Physical Education.
