Nutrition for Active Girls and Women
Understanding the nutritional needs of girls and women, particularly as they participate in vigorous exercise, is a concern for all teachers and coaches. Identifying the specific metabolic requirements, and the accompanying nutritional needs, of various activities can assist in planning appropriate training and dietary approaches to maximize performance. This session will provide current nutritional guidelines for girls and women, including information about basic nutrition, nutritional concerns for active girls and women, and common ergogenic aids. We’ll put our new knowledge into practice by developing a sample one-day-diet for active female adolescents in a hands-on, group activity.
