When the Flame Flickers: Understanding and Preventing Athlete Burnout
Athlete burnout is an important issue in the athletic community based on concerns voiced by coaches, parents, and athletes. Although this issue is receiving increasing recognition, the reasons why some individuals burnout whereas others remain fully engaged in sport is still somewhat of an enigma. The purpose of this theory to practice workshop is to help you understand this phenomenon by detailing early warning signs and symptoms of burnout. In addition, factors thought to increase the likelihood of burnout will be described. This discussion will provide the foundation for an overview of practical strategies you can use to prevent burnout.
