Measurement Symposium—Principles and Practice of Missing Data Analysis
Missing data are a common phenomenon in research and incomplete (missing) information may become a major threat to the validity of a study. Loss of statistical power and the violation of statistical assumptions are other potential associated problems. The purpose of this symposium is to review several commonly used methods for handling missing data, and a new method for the missing data in a repeated measure design will be introduced. Examining and understanding the nature of missing data patterns will also be described in detail. Finally, missing data analysis procedures in commonly used statistical packages (e.g., SPSS MVA), as well as specialized missing data software (e.g., SOLAS) will be introduced and demonstrated.
