MASSPEC Day: Planning for Progressive Performance-Based Assessment
Effective and meaningful assessment in middle and secondary physical education programs requires prior planning and integration of a variety of assessment tasks, which are interwoven with learning activites throughout the unit of instruction and across units. The assessment tasks should be progressive and should be directly linked to overall standards and unit goals. In this presentation, participants will learn steps and strategies for planning a progression of different performance-based, authentic assessments which prepare students for the successful completion of the culminating or summative assessment of the instructional activity unit. They will also learn how to link assessments to national standards, and content goals.
