Challenging the Staff to Get Moving: a Descriptive Analysis of a Worksite Physical Activity Program
Understanding why people are not exercising and what motivates them to exercise is very important when trying to develop physical activity programs. This session will discuss using a theoretical approach to assess activity levels, motivations, and readiness to change in efforts to provide a worksite health promotion program aimed at increasing physical activity. The discussion will include how one worksite was able to successfully reduce barriers for not exercising and reinforce situations the employees indicated as motivations to become more active. The methods the worksite used to track fitness participation through a team fitness challenge will also be discussed.
