A Comparison of Wellness Programs Among Different Cultures
Wellness programs are not generic in the sense that one program fits all. Ethnicity, race, age, and gender can create parameters that influence the type of wellness program that is implemented. The purpose of this presentation is to examine wellness lifestyles among cultures in an effort to identify similarities and differences. Seven programs were compared: elderly, low income, Asian American, Hispanic American, African American, Native American, and Chinese American. Noticeable differences in the wellness programs across cultures are recognized. Consequently, by comparing and contrasting the wellness lifestyles, a deeper understanding can be made of the impact diversity has on wellness.
