Kid Checkers: A Playground Safety Program for Children
Since playgrounds in parks, schools and child care centers are designed and paid for by adults, most playground safety programs are targeted at them instead of the users - children. However, at the heart of the Kid Checker program, developed by the National Program for Playground Safety, is the philosophy that children can be empowered to assess the safety of their play environment given the right tools. This session will present the Kid Checker program and describe how participants can engage children at their schools or parks in the process of making America's playgrounds safe!
