Increasing Physical Activity in Families Through Youth Sports Participation
This presentation will discuss a project geared towards increasing physical fitness in parents and their children through active involvement in youth sports and was supported by a NASPE Academy Grant. Parents and their children who were registered for youth sports in a community league were recruited to participate in a “family night” program. The presentation will describe the program development, the program activities, the data collection and results of a yearlong pilot program. Participants will be given an outline of ideas that they can take with them to implement a similar program in their community.
