Girl Scouts: Where Girls Grow Strong- We're Doing Our Bit to Keep America Fit
The preeminent organization for girls, Girl Scouts of the USA has successfully made the connection between physical activity and well-being through its GirlSports initiative which focuses on fitness, sports, health, nutrition and body image. This session examines components of this initiative including key partnerships, major publications, grants programs and national trainings. Participants gain insight on how to partner with Girl Scout councils (local affiliates) by learning about their structure, funding sources, numbers, ages and backgrounds of girls served, and program scheduling. Girl Scout resources such as GAME FACE: What Does a Female Athlete Look Like? In the Zone: Living Drug-Free; GirlSports Fit & Fun will be available for review.
