NASPE/Council of Physical Education for Children
Implementing the New COPEC/NASPE Physical Activity Guidelines for Children
This presentation is a must for elementary physical educators and all who plan physical activity for children. The most recent Physical Activity for Children: A Statement of Guidelines, as well as suggestions for implementing the guidelines in school and community settings, will be presented. The new COPEC/NASPE Physical Activity for Children:A Statement of Guidelines, an update of the 1998 guidelines, was published in the winter 2003-2004. The first presentation in this session will describe the new guidelines and point out changes from the original guidelines. The second session will make practical suggestions for implementing the guidelines for children, aged 5-12. Time is allocated for questions from the audience.
