Smart Kids - Safe Kids: A Games Approach to Violence Protection
StructureSchool and Community Safety Society of America
DescriptionLearn about a program designed to teach students in Elementary/Middle School the concepts/skills that will help them protect themselves in situations when the potential for violence exists. It consists of a series of games, which focus on five steps in self-protection. The first step, being aware of one's surroundings is critical. Avoiding trouble when it is perceived and trying to prevent an attack are two other steps children can take to protect them. The fourth step involves some basic physical skills they can use to escape. Follow-up in getting help and reporting an incident complete this process.
