A Content Analysis of Advertisements in Teen Magazines

Introduction: In spite of the ubiquity of electronic media, magazines (print) are an important source of information for teenagers on a variety of topics. Therefore, companies spend millions of dollars promoting their products to teens through such magazines. Purpose: The purpose of the project is to deliniate the nature and content of advertisements in three top selling magazines primarily intended for teenage audiences. The research also speculates on the impact of such advertising on the lifestyle and behavior of teens. Importance: Teenagers today face a multitude of complex choices regarding their health and lifestyles, it is important to examine the messages they receive from all sectors of the media, including magazines.
