Body and Mind Programs for Older Adults: Balance, Pilates, Yoga, and PNF Stretching
The workshop focuses on developing activity programs for older adults using Balance Training, Pilates, Yoga, and PNF: Part 1 demonstrates the use of cost-effective balance equipment (including noodles and plywood) and mobility exercises (from the Hadeda to the duck walk) to maintain or improve balance in older adults. Part 2 demonstrates the use of a low level-PNF program to improve functional independence, flexibility and muscle strength in older adults residing in assisted-living facilities. Part 3 provides an introduction to the effects of Pilates and Yoga on posture and gait.
