Measurement Symposium - New Perspective and Practice in Setting Performance Standards
In the past, setting cut-off scores, or cutscores, has been a familiar term/concept used in describing performance standard setting under the framework of criterion-referenced tests. Because of the development of new measurement formats, e.g., portfolio assessment, and the implementation of statewide high-stake tests, setting performance standards has become an important issue and a challenge in measurement practices. The purpose of this symposium is to provide an update of major issues and progress in setting performance standards. New methods and procedures in setting performance standards and selecting and training judges will be introduced and described in detail. Related critical issues, such as legal concerns and setting performance standards for special populations, will also be addressed.
