Attitudes of Middle School Girls Towards Physical Education
This session will examine the results of a survey given to 127 eighth grade boys and girls on their attitudes towards physical education. Students were asked about their activity preferences, attitudes towards physical education, and attitudes towards fitness in general. Participants will gain insight into gender differences (and similarities) that exist at this age in reference to perceived ability levels and negative/positive attitudes towards physical education. The session will conclude by exploring ways of enhancing physical education for all students in this critical developmental period, and in particular, girls, who tended to have more negative attitudes than boys.
