Playground: More Than a Structure
The play structure is often described as the "playground" when in fact it is only a small part of a well rounded "playground" for children. This session will provide procedures for organizing the playground, strategies for encouraging fair play, and principles for governing the layout, design and considerations for children's development. Playground designs will be shared which illustrate that adding game markings can: 1) reduce playground conflicts, 2) spread children out so as to utilize all space appropriately and 3) share data from a 7 year study which validates injury reductions. A must session for those who want to provide an environment where children learn to "play nice."
