The purpose of this symposium is to provide guidelines for selecting, calculating and interpreting reliability coefficients under various research contexts. The target audience is exercise and health science researchers and practitioners who use a new or revised measurement tool. The presentation will address topics such as, (1) guidelines for selecting an appropriate reliability coefficient based on research purpose, measurement scale, and research design; (2) the appropriate usage of Cronbach alpha; and (3) the appropriate usage of intraclass correlation coefficients for one-way and two-way models. Practical examples will be presented with guidelines for using statistical packages (e.g., SPSS).
