Child Abuse in School & Church: Legal & Sexual Issues--Using Sport to Protect
The goal of this presentation is to give sport leaders and teachers information and practical lessons to share with children. Presenters will discuss current events, court cases, regarding child abuse by church and school employees. The U.S.Supreme Court case in which a physical educator failed to correct peer-to-peer sexual harassment will be discussed. Sport leaders will learn how the law protects them from false accusations. This session is important because legal liabilities may extend to volunteers, employees and employers. Sport leaders need to understand laws, reporting and how to formulate lessons on body safety.
