Accessing Somatic Memory and the Poet Within
This session is based on the premise that the body houses memories and, therefore, has stories to tell. It blends somatics, dance education and performance as a way to access and portray poetry and dance in a meaningful way. Poetry that is inspired by personal, body-level experience gives meaning to the written word and provides a departure point from which imagination and creativity can be expressed. Participants will be guided through sensory-based activities that focus on dancing, drawing, writing, and performing.
