Top Down Planning: Designing a Lifelong Curriculum For Students with Disabilities |
Students with disabilities often spend time in physical education working on goals and objectives that frequently do not lead toward functional, meaningful, or generalized skills upon commencement. Poorly defined goals and objectives promote immature movement patterns leading to splinter skills and loss of functional skill. This session will address the Top Down Planning Model and the connection to competency and proficiency of motor skills for students with disabilities. Problem-solving activities using vignettes, videotape footage, and participation in activities leading toward skill mastery will be showcased. |
